That is just one product line on the market. It is up to the individual to decide on their product(s) of choice to apply to their finish and what falls into their budget.

True, but modern matte finishes are not as fragile or hard to maintain as many believe.. Hyundai provides a guide to buyers, and this non-biased article describes the differences.

I would agree with your statement but the Hyundai article makes it sound like it can be more work/ fragile and perhaps scare people away from a Matte finish. Its not harder.... just different.

The article has a lot of valid points.... I agree that not just any cleaner can be used. Use specific matte cleaner and don't polish as most are so used to, in gloss finishes or you will make your matte paint a patchy gloss blotch paint job. The alcohol/de-ionized water tip is a good one, especially for us MC riders wanting to carry a squirt bottle for spot bug treatment.

I agree with the wash with a back and forth motion..... forget the swirl circles..... not harder.... just different.

But to say a matte paint is fragile, I dont agree with. The qualifier is that with a larger paint job on a car allows more room for error for someone that isn't willing to treat it differently. I think matte paint on smaller surfaces like motorcycles is a better and more forgiving application.

Funny.... speaking with MC salemen and you ask them about matte finishes at MC shows.... they love them. Several times a day they are cleaning the finger prints of the gloss finishes...... not with the matte.

Having lived with a matte finish on my FJ for 2 years has convinced me that they are no harder to live/travel with. And so I have no concerns on my upcoming 2018 matte finish. Not saying they are better...... still love me a shiney deep rich gloss metallic finish!

Thanks for sharing.... good article.

POSSIBLE MOVEMENT!
For better or worse, Desert Valley Powersports is one of 50 Yamaha dealerships that are beta-testing brand new Yamaha Dealership Management software.

While looking at the software last Saturday afternoon with Dan, he noticed that a 2018 FJR1300ES has been inventoried against him, and he has pending floor charges.

In the past, these inventory assignments only happen when the bike is physically inbound.

Dan predicts Tuesday.... as in tomorrow.

Yes. Yes. YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

What's a polishing rag and how is that different from a wash rag or a wax rag?

I received an e-mail from Plexus this morning. They claim that their product is a good option on matte paint.

Thanks, Marietta Madman! I'll pick up some of that at Home Depot this evening. Looks like it will take off all manner of bug guts, too.

So much for "losing interest"!

Yesterday was rainy in the area well...today only cloudy. We all know riding a new bike home is way more fun.

For real nerds, I tried to find a webcam to watch, but think he might take the exit that's right before this camera. Warchild is hard to track when he's on a new FJR.....he could even head out to his secret, private test track past this webcam.
