CFR - 2008 Dates

Hi fellow riders,
Canadian FJR (Scott) and I just had a little meeting to look at possible locations and dates for CFR 2008. I would like to propose that the rally be based in Port Hawkesbury, NS on Sept 5th, 6th and 7th.

This location offers a number of good riding loops including the ever popular Cabot Trail.

I don't have a new calendar yet. Is this Labor Day weekend in the states?

I just got a calendar. Labor Day in the US September 1st so I will try to make this. We spell it correctly Mr Bill.

I'm in for this one also. Last time I was in NS I didn't have time to do the Cabot Trail so this time around I will.

I suppose I'm going to have to leave my radar detector in the side case?

Here's another canuck that say's count me in too. I have not been down to Cape Breton for 10 years but we did make the PEI trip two years ago. Luved the entire ride and only got rained on once. Any local route mapping would be great. One request would be for a two up tour run. Yes, some of take our wives with us when we go on vacation. Is there any racing goin on that weekend in the area.. beside the select few of us I mean.

Dates look good, I'm currently mapping the a long coast loop starting in Gaspe, NS makes a great halfway stop.

Funny you should mention radar detectors. I was at a bike show in Toronto recently and asked an Ontario Provincial Police motorcycle cop about them. He seemed pissed about being asked, but did say that it's a $120.00 fine, plus they take your detector, plus your speeding ticket. They have radar detector detectors too.

Last time through customs the woman asked do you have anything to declare? I said no. She said are you SURE? Well then take this paper inside that building. I went in and waved the paper and said "What did I win!" I won a search of every bag on the bike. Lucky for me I had slipped my radar detector into my stitch pocket. I can't believe they didn't search me because with my pockets all bulging I look like I'm packing.

I've never been stopped and searched at the border before, I hope that's the last, but put the detector in you pocket before crossing.
