Ooooooh......374 miles away! Careful there George, that kind of high mileage is going to scare the crap out of CBA President Don Carver! Actually it only takes two posts to get three people started from the Chevron Station at 9:30 AM......and forty posts from SkooterG pissing and moaning that the ride did not start at 11 AM when he wanted it to start (and at a different location besides that!).

 
A few random comments.

1) Don Carver's subframe is busted. Something to do with a fat person of the opposite sex. The sub-frame issue is annoying for sure. Carver is certainly annoyed for he has more sheet to handle before NAFO. I am annoyed because modern sport tour cycles should not be prone to breaking in half.

2) 374 miles in one day will cause George to spend twice as much time cleaning his bike as the ride itself (how he keeps is so clean I have no clue - clearly I wish my bike was so clean)

3) It is snowing at Government Camp Oregon this morning - aka Hwy 26 near Mt. Hood. As a result the wife and are are going furniture shopping - the weather will improve right after NAFO - trust me I have lived existed in Western Washington all my life.

4) For the next 100 days the average high in Chanlder Az will be over 100 degrees while here in the Specific NorthWet we will have wonderful weather, with average temps just above 70. Do you think Beemerdon's would come up here if it was so nice down there?

5) When it is nice (aka can ride without dying of heat prostration) in Chandler Az the average daylight time is about 9 hours. When it is nice in the Specific Northwet (can ride without drowning for freezing) daylight/ day is 12-18 hours. Outside those daylight hours is indoor time. Who you you think spends more time indoors per year? A person in Chandler Az or Seattle Wa? I am sure there is an Engineer, or recovering Engineer (recovering meaning retired Engineer) on the forum who could calculate the derivatives to account for the longer/short days vs. the average daily temperatures for each day and or month.

6) George's dress is a bit large. And to think we went riding last weekend.... I had no idea.

7) Clearly with so many random thoughts you'd be right wonder about my sanity. Excuse me now while I go make an appointment with my therapist.

Oh yeah... you should NOT ride sweep... ;)

 
If we get a large crowd at Arlington we could split in up in to smaller group. I would be happy to lead or sweep. Sweepers can lay back a bit and have some fun with the rubber band effect in the twisties, no? Hey maybe Fontanaman is on to something here......

 
Agreed Font...sweep can be fun. :) Seeing as I'm heading up on the 20th, though, you all will be sweeping for me... :)

 
Hi everyone, my name is Ty and I was at Brian's tech meet.

I meet most of you there and would like to join the ride to NAFO.

I will be going by myself.

I prefer a good pace group, but can accommodate any riding style nicely.

I look forward to seeing everyone agian and exploring some new scenery.

I will be sharing a room with someone on the forum that I do not know.

I would rather share a room with someone locally or that i know.

If you have an extra space, please let me know and I will help with the cost, thank you.

I will keep a watch on the forum to stay updated.

Can't wait to have some fun and see everyone again.

Uhm....there will likely be a few who prefer a more sedate pace.

Like Fontanaman says, sweep ain't necessarily a bad place. Besides, stopping for pictures or to enjoy the scenery isn't a bad thing.....

;)

 
A week prior to departure for Canada and it is time for the final push:

Check: Oil, coolant level, RAM mounts

Replace: Tires, brake fluid

Clean: Windscreen, headlights, battery contacts

Load: Maps, rain gear, spare parts

Watch: South Park movie

Next Saturday: New rear tire, change oil & filter, start packing.....

I cleaned the garage and made room for a couple of FJR traveling friends to park on Sunday night. :D

 
.....and since I am riding up from Los Angeles I'll see if I can find room on the FJR for the Stanley Cup.
