    Triumph Tiger 899

So my FJR is gone. Insurance has paid out and now I am in the market for the next ride. I loved the FJR but was feeling that my next bike could be lighter. Didn't think I would need to deal with it for another 5 years or so but here I am. I've been looking at the Triumph Tiger 800 and like what...

    Help with damage

I had an unfortunate experience on Thursday. I encountered a rogue large plastic garbage can which lodged under my front wheel at about 35 mph. Needless to say I went down. The bike slid on it`s left side then flipped over to the right hand side. In doing so it came down very hard on the right...

    Kuryakyn LED Voltmeter

I just got the above noted voltmeter and was wondering a good switched place to tap into somewhere near the front. I've seen lots of discussion reagarding the merits of the different types but don't remember seeing best place to hook it up. The supplied lead is only about 12" long.

    Yamaha learned a lesson?

I was at the Toronto International Motorcycle Show yesterday and the Yamaha booth had a couple of Super Tenere on display. Looks like a very nice bike that could be worth considering. While the Tenere has been on sale in Europe for a while this one is a completely redesigned bike only out there...

    One piece left over

So I just dug deep and servced all the "Ground Spiders". All of them were perfect by the way. Took them all apart and stuffed them with dilectric grease I use on the spark plugs leads I also changed the coolant and but only did a single blow job and refilled. I think 3 times would be a a bit...

    Heated seat

I know that Corbin offers a heated seat option but has anyone tried making their own? I figure I could diesect an old electric vest or maybe one of those cheap sit on car ones and retrofit it to my redundant stock seat. Fall and spring rides are short enough that the stock seat discomfort...

    Brantford Sighting

I've been seeing a cobalt blue 05 heading east on Hwy 403 daily before 7:00 am every day. Yellow jacket and modular helmet. Who know who? <_<

Bar end weights and tire beads

I was out at Mosport for the Canadian Superbike racing and did a lot of chatting with like minded riders. They mentioned some farkles I hadn't considered and don't believe I've read about here. The first was Manicsalamander bar ends. They were on an 06 FJR and he claimed they made it...

    Pat on the back "Again"

Well I just got back from a 600 mile day. Was hot and sunny and the best part.... I picked up my newly painted saddle bag. The master Garauld has done his magic again. He painted a slightly damaged I got from BuilderBob. Garauld did it perfectly in 06 blue So he might not want me advertising...

    It's ALIVE!!!

So maybe I shouldn't be so excited but it is running again. My last ride was Nov 4, 08. I had been experiencing the dreaded ignition failure and had to bungie the key to get it to stay in place to get me home. I started getting it apart then and had since rebuilt the original switch, ordered...

    New Ignition Switch

So I have been watching the threads on recall for the ignition switch and I don't think anyone has actually answered as what or if there is any difference in the new parts. I know they change out the guts but are they more robust or just the same?

    Ignition switch plug

I'm in the process of removing my ignition switch as I seem to have a "dirty one". I'm at the point of unpluging the large white connector to the wiring harness under the tank but it seems tight. Are there tabs that need to be compressed or do you just pull it apart. Not much room in there and I...

    Canadian Ignition switch

I'm experiencing what appears to be the "dirty contact" syndrome and am wondering if anyone had done the surgery on a Canadian switch with the "Chipped" key. Is it the same as the USA switch? There must be an addtional sensor to read the key. Any thoughts would be appreachiated

    Best Birthday Gift Ever

So here it is today is my Birthday. Just got home this afternoon from my annual long distance bike trip. Absolutely amazing roads. 6 of us started out crossing the border at Buffalo NY (I live in Canada) last Saturday, June 7, 08. There were two Harley Ultra Classic's, a Honda St 1300, Yamaha...

    BJM and engine temp

I did the Barbarioan jumper mod a while back on my 06. I perceived a drop in how far a tank of gas would go. Maybe 10 - 15 %. I had set the numbers at +7 across the board. I moved it back to +5 tonight and it seems just as smooth at low speeds. I have noticed in both settings it now seems to...

    Windshield change

So I put a Cee Bailey's on but during the change I didn't see any foam mentioned here on the forum in the past. It wasn't on the old windshield or on the new one. I didn't notice ot stuck to the "W" or the frame. Maybe the dealer never installed it when the bike was new. (Gen II). Any thoughts...

    Cee Baileys

Here we go again. I lucked into a used (but perfect) Cee Bailey's +2, +2 for my Gen II. I can't beleive the difference. Much smoother air. I know that a +4 might have been better since I'm tall but the price was good and it was an easy transaction. I'm in love again.

    BBJM

So I was changing the plugs today and I thought I would take on the famous Barbarian Jumper Mod since I was half way there. I did the wire change alright. The bike started ok. I pressed the Select and Reset buttons together while turning on the key and got to the Diag screen. Pressing select...

    Sargent Seat

I got my first chance to put some seat time in with my new Sargent seat and have to say I think it will do the trick. It has a definite "pocket" but seem to distribute the bum load well. Only did about 180 miles but it feels better after a couple of hours than the stock seat for sure. Looks like...

    What do you tell them

So what do you say when they find out you ride a motorcycle? Most no-riders can't seem to understand how we can put ourselves at such "elevated" risk. I haven't got a quick response other than "you wouldn't understand".
