OK Guys I have 2 blocks of rooms set aside in Goleta.

first is a group of 20 rooms at the Motel 6 the info is as follows.

The next is a block of 10 rooms at the Holiday Inn, there will add more if we need them. I had to use my CC which is why there is only 10 rooms to start.

Stay in town and several bars and restaurants are walking distance (Tahoe City in particular, Tahoe Vista too but a little less so), and there are lots of great roads available from there and open by then. Casinos at the state line in Crystal Bay, just past Brockway.

+1 Good idea Rich, can't beat the riding north or south of Lake Tahoe for many, many miles is each direction. I'd be happy to post up some ride suggestions.

If Tahoe City, TraveLodge is right across the street (Hwy 28) from Commons Beach and right in the middle of everything with the golf course out behind it (that'd be my preference if booked early). Some, but not a lot of other motel type lodging in TC. Tahoe Vista has a lot more such lodging, but the walking distance food and drinking establishments are fewer. The CalNeva Casino at Stateline might be interesting if it weren't for parking circumstances I wouldn't be wild about. There are now other rebuilt casinos there, however, that might bear checking out.

The north shore of Lake Tahoe is gorgeous, has lake access and panoramic views, and one of the finest climates on the planet starting in late May or so. And like Doug said, the riding choices can spoil you -- between Doug and me, I think we could come up with seven to ten days' worth of great day rides off the top of our heads. If your pillion partner has never experienced it, there is NOTHING like riding the ridge on 89 between Emerald Bay and Cascade Lake (pillion doesn't have to pay attention to road) -- it's flying on the ground in a stunning setting, ascending into the sky with beautiful blue water, waterfalls and Sierra greenery on both sides when you look down, not to mention the immense panoramic expanse of Lake Tahoe to your east from this amazing promontory.

Rich heres a little clue for you.....Tahoe = elevation = not gonna happen.........for me anyway.

So does the beginning of May work for everyone?

What about Santa Barbara/Carpenteria? lots of fantastic riding around there........Foxen, Tepesquet, 33, 166, Lockwood valley, Pine mountain.....

If I get a vote the Santa Barbara area would be my choice. Timing would be your choice except for the second weekend in September cause I think we need to tear up some Oregon roads and a Reuben.
