    WaterProof Riding Boots

I have the SIDI Strada Tepor EVO. They have time and agian passed the drown test. They are also comfortable off the bike. I wore them on a Oops. Took the tough trail intead of the easy walk once, and my feet didn't complain. Brian

    Spline grease alternative

I use Bel-Ray Waterproof Grease. I was at the Yamaha Shop when I remembered I needed grease, and that's what they had. No prob's yet. Brian P.S. If the pattern stays true, I'll be replacing my rear tire again in about 2000 more miles. I'll find out if the Bel-Ray works when I relube the...

I have a Scorpion EXO-700 that I'm quite happy with. When I open the top front and top rear vents, I can actually feel the top of my head get cooler. Brian

    Cost of 4000 mile service

The 4000mi Service for my '05 (non-ABS) cost $220. The parts list consisted of Oil, Oil Filter, misc.shop supplies (rags?); I basically paid $220 for an oil and filter change. That was JUL or AUG of 2005. I didn't opt for Y.E.S, so it went out of warrenty a week later, and the shop has only...

Proper procedure for pillion mount and dismount on FJR

@Maywannayamaha1300, As GOD is my witness, this is how my wife does it: I lean the bike over on the side stand, pushing on the ground with my left foot to keep the bike from leaning any further; My wife grabs her right pants leg at the ankle and pulls her right foot up to the pillion seat; she...

    Tire Changer Question

This is for those of you who change/balance your own tires. 1) What do you use for "tire mounting lube", and where do you get it? 2) Where do you get balance weights? Thanks, Brian

    Need Tire Balancer Advice

Hey everyone, My dad and I have decided to buy a tire changer and balancer. We got the Harbour Freight Changer, and are now looking for a Tire Balancer. I've heard nothing but good about the Marc Parnes Unit. We saw a No-Mar Balancer at a recent BMW Rally, and it looks to be a solid piece of...

    Kickstand Lodge

Thanks for the info Lauden. My dad and I rode by there, on a ride to Maggie Valley from Tellico Plaines. They looked to be closed....it was February after all. I've heard good things about the place, so now maybe I'll have to go there now....always up for a roadtrip. Brian

    Radio

I use a Roady II, run through an AutoCom Active-7. I sometimes carry a "jogger's" walkman AM/FM/Weather Band, and replace the Roady with it, just to shake things up a bit. I may add a Mix-It so I dont't have to plug/unplug radios. Brian P.S. Does anyone know...are Mix-Its waterproof/water...

    Problem with Givi V46 trunk

I don't know if you are having the same problem I've had, but here goes. I discovered that if the key is out, the latch locks and will not close. If the key is not turned all the way to the right, the same thing happens. The "leave the key in thing", is easy to remember....I constantly get in a...

    Warm weather leg protection

I wear Joe Rocket Phoenix Pants if it is over 60 degrees. If it's really hot, I'll wear shorts under them. The only problems I've had are the strange looks I get when I take off the pants and am wearing socks/riding boots with shorts. Brian

    GPS

From what I've read, the "harddrive units" are not recommended for motorcycles due to the vibration. That said, I have a 276C and am quite happy with it. It is waterproof and is not as prone to "washing out" in the sun as the 2610 is (my Dad had to get the sunshield for his 2610). The memory...

    Alaska Leather sheepskin pad

I hope I'm not hijacking this thread, but I've been thinking of Alaska Leather Sheepskin myself. My question is....the $99.90 Grade-A or the $69.90 grade-B? Is there THAT MUCH difference in "Guarenteed 100%, 1in nap with no seams" and "not Guarenteed 100% 1 in nap with possible seams"? Thanks...

    Riding Boots

I wear SIDI Strada Tepor EVO. They are comfortable enough to walk around in, and they passed the "drown test". I have ridden in temps as cold as 30 or 35 degrees, and my feet never got cold. Brian

    Audio?

I have an AutoCom Active-7, and am very happy with it. I use it mostly for the intercom, but it works really well for my XM Radio and my FRS/GMRS Radio. I haven't tried the cell phone jack as I see know need for me to talk on the phone while I'm riding. Brian

    BRP in Summer

Hey everybody, Thanks for all athe input. I might have said before that this will be my wife's first long motorcycle trip. We have been to weekend "camping rallys", but have never "ride-stop for the night-repeat for several days". As she is new, I figured on 100 miles or so per day, stop and...

    TANK BAGS!

I use a Marsee Teardrop 15L strap-on. If I had to do it over again, I honestly don't know whether I'd go with the strap-on or change to a mag-mount. At any rate. I'm quite happy with the bag. By the way, it is supposed to have a no-scratch-bottom, but I cut a piece of tooldrawer liner to fit...

    BRP in Summer

Thanks trimmantom, I was afraid that motel rooms would be hard to come by during the "height of the tourist season". Brian

    Recommendations for 3-4 season clothing?

@vdoguy, I know this isn't exactly what you asked, but here goes anyway. I wear a Cortech Lite Jacket with Marsee pants in Fall, Winter, Spring...early Fall and late Spring, the liner comes out of the jacket and the vents get openned. Above 70 degrees, I wear a Joe Rocket Phoenix Jacket (gray)...
