Looks like the portable Hondarosa might make some money that weekend

Somebody help me out here--how's the riding around LaPine? Like nearby day rides, rides toward the coast from there, etc.? I've been up and down 97 a couple times. Not really spectacular. Like how I imagine riding in Florida to be, but with pine trees. Besides a side trip to Crater Lake, what good roads and rides are nearby? I'd like to check them out on Google Earth or someplace. I'm leaning, but short of the tipping point about heading up that way. Thanks.

I just called the motel and the lady that answered the call seemed to be in total confusion regarding the Ruben Fest and Ray's 30 room block....and couldn't find any info on the room block so someone (Ray would be a good candidate) needs to visit the motel and find out what is going on, if any rooms are still available, and if rooms will become available for our group if someone cancels. Its hard to believe the motel is totally sold out for those dates.
I WILL have it handled in the morning.

I don't have a map handy to get road numbers but I'll get some soon. There is a ton of good roads within a few miles of Lapine. Crater Lake is nice but the road a mess at times. Cascade lakes highway to the west is good. and anything north of highway 26 and east of 97 is way good. Give me a call if you want to when you have a map handy and I'll lay out some routes for you. 541-536-8556.

Hope so Ray would love meeting up with all you guys. I know there are some excellent rides out of there. The loop around the high lakes on Centry Drive is good. The Lava fields out of Sisters is another and then there is Smith Rocks all of which I'm sure Ray knows very well and many others.

Hotel problem solved. There are more rooms blocked out for us. They are out of double queen rooms but there are a number of single king rooms available.

The confusion yesterday was a new person on the desk that wasn't up to speed yet. We should be good to go but if there are problems let me know right away so I can take care of it.

Thanks for taking care of that Ray, I now have a room for Fri-Sat leaving on Sunday. Looking forward to meeting all of you. Plus will give me a chance to visit my mom at my sisters place in LaPine.

Thanks Ray, looks like I will be sleeping in a King bed this year.

Probably could find you somebody to share it with but the local talent pool is real shallow.

Mike, ever heard of a paper map? ;)

I still use them and they are wonderful for finding new roads. Hwy 27 is a blast. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/La+Pine,+OR+97739/Prineville,+OR/Millican,+OR/@43.9863707,-121.7596407,9z/data=!4m25!4m24!1m5!1m1!1s0x54b882ee605a1851:0x8d0493ec291fa151!2m2!1d-121.503636!2d43.6703995!1m10!1m1!1s0x54b93242c69c625d:0xff79fca183b4ef0c!2m2!1d-120.8344664!2d44.2998485!3m4!1m2!1d-120.7427331!2d43.9630345!3s0x54b91d8a208e1da5:0xcc0c7108e6235ac5!1m5!1m1!1s0x54b8ef8b8b3c5ebd:0xe27bed004903b4b3!2m2!1d-120.91889!2d43.87917!3e0

I still need to figure out lodging. Bills went up, $ went down. And we all know how that goes. I will figure something out. I am planning to come down on Thursday and leave Sunday. So far it is looking like 3 people on 2 Bikes.

Unfortunately, the talent pool has been real shallow everywhere I go for the past decade.<img src='<a href='https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//public/style_emoticons/default/weirdsmiley.gif'>https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//public/style_emoticons/default/weirdsmiley.gif</a>' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_emoticon' /></p></blockquote><br />

The talent pool is really deep where I live, but I seem to have forgotten how to swim 😒

Why is it when I quote a post on my iPhone it ends up in gibberish instead of the original posts formatting? I'm still in the 20th century I guess.....

Hey, it does for me too. At least you know how to pilot airplanes and fast bikes...

I can't read and thought I could incorporate the Reuben Run with a Labor Day High School Reunion. My bad. Sorry I won't make this shindig this year :(

Just got a room. See you next month.

John

Probably overnight in Winnemucca on the 16th.

Wow glad I introduced myself when I first registered or I probably wouldn't have found out about this were it not or a couple of "hey you should check out the Rueben Run" posts!

We will be taking our first road trip on the new ride the week prior. Heading down to Yosemite via Lassen and Whiskeytown then back through the Redwoods and Crater Lake. But hell after wading through the last eight pages of "I'll be there" it would be a crime for us not to make it, I mean hey we live in DRW, what I affectionately refer to as North La Pine. I better make sure we get Joel at the Harvest Depot the new griddle he ordered by then!

Looking forward to this one!
